new technical terms to make your life easier (or harder)
While studying blinks for “Hot Tips for Animating Blinks,” I noticed some fine details and patterns that deserve their own terminology; so I coined some new words to help with your advanced artist needs. Enjoy.
- rolling lids – the folding and rolling of the upper eyelid skin onto itself
- sticky lids – the slight sticking of the eyelid skin onto itself, may occur within the inner eyelids or within the upper eyelid skin
- blinkles – blink wrinkles, the small, unique wrinkles surrounding the eyelids that form during the act of blinking
- blink turning point** – the moment when the downward motion of a blink (downstroke) stops and reverses to begin moving upward (upstroke).
**I thought I made up the term “turning point” for blinks, but it’s a recognized concept in ophthalmology research.
